Random Things

As of two nights ago, our sanchos are completely gone.
It was a bittersweet moment.
Yes, that is how awesome it was that we got sanchos in the first place, that I am still talking about it!

Speaking of Sanchos/Taco Tierra - we love, love, LOVE Mexican food.
I have been trying to find a good moose recipe for a while now - granted, we have been cooking amazing meals - but I found a legit one the other night.
It's called Feisty Fiesta Mexican Rice Bowl. The name even sounds legit, right?!
Since a lot of you don't have moose has an option, meat would also work. You can find the recipe here.
I'm lucky I found this blog because it has a lot of different wild game options as well!

This recipe kicked booty, and Josh absolutely loved it.
The best part - we actually had a lot of veggies to use since we both had been to Bethel recently - corn, celery, jalapenos, onion. I forgot how much I loved fresh veggies in a meal!
We are lucky when we get them:)

The weather here cannot make up its mind. We actually had the second warmest October here that Newtok has recorded. It rains almost everyday. Apparently, it has never rained after November 13th. I'm afraid that is going to change this year. We will see in three more days!
Luckily, we have gotten two great care packages from my dad and Darlene Weir to help keep us entertained (and full) when we are stuck in the house and don't want to go to the school. Thanks so much!

Friday, I decided to do a new bulletin board for our hallway. We are starting fictional/non-fictional narratives in writing class with both the 5th and 6th graders. I really wanted to make a turkey, but all the bulletin boards online were way too young that my students would just think I'm lame (as if they don't already!). But, I found a great one that dealt with picking better word choices for narratives. It fit perfect! So gobble up the sweetness of my classes' bulletin board!

Lately, some pretty big decisions have had to be made in the Hall's household.
But I don't want to bore you (yet) so that can wait for another post.
We woke up this morning to a beautiful layer of snow on the ground. So to calm us and
de-stress, we decided to take a walk to the store in the snow.

On our way, we saw the prettiest husky dog on a leash, pulling a little kid on a sled. If that doesn't prove we are in Alaska, than I don't know what does.

On our way back, the wind and snow started to pick up. We were then caught in a mild snow flurry that we tried our hardest to capture in pictures, but we just look weird. Enjoy!

And, we actually have tomorrow off... Happy Three Day Weekend!
